Western’s Financial Services department has a reputation of being all about the money. Well, this time of year they’re all about the generosity of giving.
Over the years, the approximately 55 employees have made the effort to give back to the community by helping local families in need. And this year is no exception.
With more than $2,000 in toys and clothes, a number of local families – through Children’s Aid Society of London & Middlesex – will be having a much happier holiday season.
“We have the full support of our managers and everyone in the department helps in any way that they can,” says administrative assistant Peggy Bugler, adding staff has year-round fundraising activities such as draws, dress down days and bake sales.
“My congratulations to the entire financial services group,” says Gitta Kulczycki Vice-President (Resources & Operations). “Your generosity will help many needy families in our local community who face a difficult Christmas.”
This year’s donation will also include $600 in food vouchers, raised as part of a mini-putt golf tournament in memory of former department member Lorne Hathaway.
“It makes everyone feel good to go into the room filled with gifts for children of all ages and see the contribution that they have made to bring a good Christmas to the less fortunate,” says Bugler.
