Chatham, Ont. native Amanda Anderson became Western’s all-time scoring leader during a home court matchup between the Mustangs and Lakehead Thunderwolves on Feb. 6.
Anderson entered the game just one point shy of Michelle Vesprini’s 1,171 career points, and buried a long jumper from the left corner midway through the first quarter to set the record.

After a 27-point night during the Feb. 6 game, Anderson now has 1,197 points.
“Obviously, it was something that was brought up all week,” said Anderson. “It was nice to get it out of the way early.”
The Mustangs won the game, with a score of 66-63.
“Amanda was on fire in the second half,” said Mustangs coach Stephan Barrie. “That’s what she’s doing for us lately.”
Modest about her achievement, Anderson says “the most important thing was the win. It was a big game.”
With the win, Western is now 14-5, and remains second in the OUA West division.
