Western Mustangs head curling coach Rory Munro was named Ontario University Athletics coach of the year.
Munro, who graduated from The University of Western Ontario in 1978, is a level three coach with the Canadian Curling Association and has coached at various provincial and national championships. He has coached at Western since the 2003-04 season, coaching the Mustangs to silver medals in 2004-05 2007-08.
He won the Ontario Curling Association’s Gordon Fogg Coaching Award in 2004 and 2007.
As a competitor, Munro also won the Ontario Sliver Tankard in 1997.
This season, Munro has guided the Mustangs men’s and women’s teams to 7-1 records. Both Western squads enter the OUA Championships as the top seed.
