Through a partnership with the University of Nairobi, Kenya, students of the Graduate School of Journalism participated in a program to educate Kenyans in broadcasting and journalism.
The program allowed for two-week exchanges between Nairobi and Western and equipped the Kenyan school with Macintosh computers.
· The Campus Computer Store was selling Packard Bell colour computers ranging from $1,256 to $3,029. Features included a 3.5″ floppy drive, DOS 5.0 and a free $100 retail gift pack.
· Conferences at Parkwood Hospital were to discuss the legal, ethical, and social perspectives of the euthanasia debate. Keynote speakers included Chris Axworthy who was a supporter of Bill C-261 to legalize euthanasia under certain conditions.
· Under the direction of Professor Jerome Summers, the UWO Symphony Orchestra was able to take advantage of an opportunity to play at a major musical event in Toronto. The group performed Sergei Prokofiev’s Overture on Jewish Themes amongst many premier solo musicians at a Feb. 12 concert.
· The Equestrian Club offered riding lessons for all ages and levels in an eight-week course for $96. The winter sessions were held indoors and included jumping and cross-country skills.
