The University of Western Ontario Mustangs men’s hockey team showed a wealth of heart, but fell short in their bid for the school’s second CIS national championship with a 4-2 loss to the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds on March 29 at Thunder Bay’s Fort William Garden.
With a great playoff run, Western advanced to the national final with a 7-2 defeat over Saint Mary’s on March 28.
On March 29, Western tied the game with a pair of goals in the second period but ran into the hot shooting of Lachlan MacIntosh who led the Reds with a hat trick in the win.
