Canada’s justice minister and attorney general, Robert Nicholson, will speak on “Canada’s justice agenda” on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Moot Court Room as part of Western Law’s Distinguished Speaker Series.
Nicholson, MP for Niagara Falls, was first elected to the House of Commons in 1984. He has served in several capacities, including Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, and Minister for Science and Small Businesses.
In 2006, Nicholson was named government House leader and Minister for Democratic Reform. In 2007, he was appointed to his current position.
Nicholson holds a bachelor degree from Queen’s University and a law degree from the University of Windsor. He was called to the bar in 1979 and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
