Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) announced this week four Mustang football team members will be playing in the 2009 East-West Bowl on May 9, hosted by The University of Western Ontario.
The West squad, lead by Western’s head coach Greg Marshall, will include Mustang players Mike Faulds (quarterback), Jesse Bellamy (wide receiver), John Surla (linebacker) and Craig Butler (defensive back).
The annual football all-star game showcasing the best players in CIS football, this year featuring players eligible for the 2010 Canadian Football League draft, will be held at 1 p.m. at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
East West Bowl week gets under way Tuesday, May 5 with practices and training sessions. The East West Bowl banquet is set for Friday, May 8.
Tickets for the game are on sale and fans can purchase them online at westernmustangs.ca by clicking on the ticketing tab.
Prices are $15 for adults and $10 for youth and students.
The West squad includes players from OUA teams west of the Greater Toronto Area (Western, McMaster, Windsor, Wilfrid Laurier, Waterloo) and Canada West.
Glen Constantin, head coach of the 2008 Vanier Cup champion Laval Rouge et Or, will lead the east team, which will include players from OUA schools in the GTA and East (Ottawa, Queen’s, Toronto, York) and from the Quebec and Atlantic conferences.
