Approximately 450 high school students and teachers from London and surrounding areas will have an opportunity to explore careers in medicine and other sciences at The University of Western Ontario this Friday.
Discovery Days is a one-day workshop that gives secondary school students and teachers the opportunity to explore a variety of career options. These inspirational days are comprised of a keynote lecture, hands-on workshops and a career panel discussion. Locations include Western, Fanshawe College, Parkwood Hospital, Lawson Health Research Institute and Elborn College.
Students gain a clear picture of what it would be like to be a health professional by interacting with researchers, clinicians and educators in their real-life work setting.
At Western, students will have the opportunity to spend the day learning about topics such as microsurgery and transplantation, mental health, the human genome and clinical psychology, among others.
