The University Students’ Council at Western is seeking a local charity to be the recipient of the proceeds from its 2013 Charity Ball. Held annually in January, Charity Ball chooses a new organization to support each year and provides both monetary aid and widespread awareness to the chosen organization.
Proceeds from this past year’s Charity Ball raised funds for the Sunshine Foundation of Canada, helping make the dreams of more than 7,000 children with severe physical disabilities and threatening illnesses come true. Furthermore, Charity Ball provided the Sunshine Foundation with excellent exposure within the London community.
“Western students are passionate about making a mark in the world. They strive to make a difference here in London as they grow and develop themselves. As a member of the USC executive, I encourage all local charities to apply,” said Erin Uberig, USC vice-president student events.
Applicants are asked to give a brief description of their organization, outline potential uses for the donation and describe any possible volunteer opportunities. The full application can be found online at the USC website.
Applications are due by 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 27.
