Earlier this month the renowned Academy of Management presented Richard Ivey School of Business professor Paul Beamish with their International Management Outstanding Educator Award.
Beamish was nominated for the prestigious honour by seven of his peers from business schools around the world for his continuous excellence and innovation in international management education at all levels. This includes contributions on pedagogy, the training of other teachers, and the global dissemination of international management knowledge.
“Professor Beamish continues to raise the bar for faculty everywhere,” said Carol Stephenson, dean, Richard Ivey School of Business. “This is a very significant achievement. There are few people who combine such an extensive research record while also serving as a mentor and advisor for doctoral students and contributing to education in so many ways.”
Throughout his career, Beamish has contributed to the development of international business scholars by supervising 27 successful PhD candidates. His research record includes the publication of 107 published peer-reviewed articles, many in top-tier journals. Beamish also has published 32 other articles, 54 books (including numerous case and textbooks) and 30 book chapters. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Business Studies and has actively served on or serves on more than 20 editorial boards.
As the Director of Ivey Publishing since 1999, it has become the second largest case distributor in the world and the largest distributor of Asian management cases. Beamish has authored more than 120 cases himself of which 17 have been recognized as top-ten best sellers.
Beamish has served as a faculty member at Ivey for 25 years and is the founding Director of both the Ivey Asian Management Institute and Ivey’s Engaging Emerging Markets Research Centre. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Academy of International Business and Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. He holds the Donald Triggs Canada Research Chair.
