On Nov. 15, 2012, Western News celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special edition asking 40 Western researchers to share the 40 THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE NEXT 40 YEARS.
Their assignment: Tell readers what to expect to see over the next four decades in the researcher’s particular area of expertise. As they were looking to the Year 2052, it took a bit of summoning an inner Ray Bradbury to write these pieces, but their reflections make for an interesting and exciting journey – no matter if they are talking neuroscience or James Joyce.
It is a fitting way to celebrate the last 40 years by casting our eyes 40 years into the future.
