Western has kicked off a celebration of 100 years of university athletics and you can get in the game in a variety of ways.
“This season will be a very special one as we celebrate Western’s rich history of athletics,” said Therese Quigley, director sport and recreation services. “At Western, we have one of the proudest sporting traditions in all of Canada and we’ll be honouring that tradition throughout the 2013-14 season.”
One example? A beautiful 120-page hardcover coffee table book, written by Western professor and sports historian Bob Barney, was launched during Homecoming 2013.
“Telling the story of Western’s first 100 years of sport was no easy feat. But no one could have told it better than Bob has done,” Quigley said.
The book is available for sale online or through The Book Store at Western.
The book joins other efforts such as a promotional video and banners hung across campus as part of the celebration of the important elements the athletics culture brings to the university campus.
