Western will host its annual Campus Clean Up on Thursday, April 2. The event will be open to all students, staff and faculty at Western.
“The clean-up represents a fun and easy way for members of the Western community to get involved on campus,” said Beverley Ayeni, Western’s sustainability manager. “If everyone spent just 30 minutes picking up waste, the aesthetic and environmental effects would be profound. Last year, more than 390 pounds of waste were picked up across campus. We want this year’s event to be even bigger and better.”
Members of each one-hour shift – 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – will meet at the Concrete Beach (or in the Mustang Lounge, in case of rain) and then head out to a designated part of campus. After returning from their clean-up, each group will receive a free BBQ lunch. Many prizes will also be available including gift cards and a Western blanket.
Those interested in participating can send an email to sustainability@uwo.ca, indicating which shift works for them.
