UWOFA celebrates students at scholarship event

Elizabeth McConkey, left, a student in the Faculty of Social Science, was joined by her mom, Ruth Ann, at the annual University of Western Ontario Faculty Association (UWOFA) Scholarship reception, held Monday in the Great Hall. McConkey was one of the recipients of a Faculty of Social Science award. UWOFA scholarships are awarded annually to students across all faculties at Western and aim to recognize their academic achievements in the previous year.

The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association (UWOFA) handed out the association’s annual scholarships Monday to outstanding students from across all 11 faculties. These awards are funded by UWOFA members, reflecting their commitment to students and to the university community. The winners included:

  • Khasir Hean, Helen Hey and Leanne Hord, Arts & Humanities;
  • Suzanne Chisholm and Tara Hargrave, Education;
  • Gareth Arnott, Kenneth Ka Chi Ip and Joshua Weinstein, Engineering;
  • Eric Hedge, Stephanie Hosang, Sofia Provad and Alexandria Vincent, Health Sciences;
  • Aidan Warlow, Information and Media Studies;
  • Geoffrey Molnar, Ivey Business School;
  • Laura Snowdon, Law;
  • Sharang Sharma, Music;
  • Jennifer Boogaards, Dentistry, and Dominic Leblanc, Medicine (J.A.F. Stevenson Memorial Scholarship), Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry;
  • Orly Bogler, Lindsay Debono (Part-time Student Scholarship), Deheng Liu, Timothy Pollock (Allan Heinicke Memorial Scholarship), Danielle Schwartz, Anthony Zarola and Weige Zhao, Science;
  • Pamela Fitzgerald (Part-time Student Scholarship), Jing Jiang, Elizabeth McConkey, Dan Poliwoda (W. Balderston Memorial Scholarship for History), Mark Ren, Brandon Schupp, Maria Shaposhnikova, Holly Trower (G. Edward Ebanks Scholarship for Sociology) and Leore Zecharia, Social Science;
