Flood advisory issued for Western campus
Warm temperatures in recent days have fueled melting that is
causing some flooding on campus. It is anticipated that water
levels will continue to rise slowly and peak Sunday afternoon, with
the high flow of water continuing well into Monday.

Winter weather closes university
Due to the large amount of snow and potential for freezing rain in
the London area, The University of Western Ontario is closed today.
Western’s three affiliated colleges are also closed.
Western holiday hours
Many University of Western Ontario services will be closed Dec. 25
to Jan. 4 for the holiday period. Classes resume on Monday, Jan. 5
and academic and administrative offices re-open the same day.
Learn the ABCs of medical science
The popular Cafe Scientifique public lecture series begins Jan. 7
with a “magnetic mystery tour” of the human body and an exploration
of MRIs.
Research funding web page launched
A new web page developed by the University of Western Ontario
Research Development & Services brings researchers a short
click away from accessing critical funding.

The new president of The University of Western Ontario is a dynamic
and gifted academic leader committed to taking Western to the next

Fitness equipment accessible Jan. 5
With the operating hours set for when students return from the
holidays, Campus Recreation staff prepares to open the new Western
Student Recreation Centre for use of fitness equipment and drop-in
gym activities on Jan. 5.

The University of Western Ontario has contracted with the world’s
most dominant web search company to index and provide search engine
services for the hundreds of thousands of pages making up the
university’s web world.
Winter storm information
The University of Western Ontario is closely monitoring winter
storm conditions with offices remaining open until further notice.
Please monitor the homepage for updates. Campus safety personnel
urge caution in walking and driving on campus in the face of
challenging snow clearance conditions.
New ‘green’ program for Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering at The University of Western Ontario has
added an eighth program to its undergraduate engineering
curriculum.
Mustang, CFL great Joe Krol dies
Six-time Grey Cup winner Joe (King) Krol, who led The University of
Western Ontario to an intercollegiate title in 1939, has died at
the age of 89.
