Two of Canada’s best university hockey teams will duel at the John Labatt Centre on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. for the second annual Jack Frost Cup, as the Western Mustangs host the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks.
The two division rivals in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Far West division offer a great matchup for hockey fans as the teams have developed a healthy rivalry over the past few seasons.
Western’s roster includes former London Knights Ryan Martinelli and Adam Nemeth, while Laurier currently leads the OUA Far West division.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for student, senior and kids.
Tickets can be purchased in person at the John Labatt Centre Box Office and the Western Box Office (Metras Museum, Alumni Hall); online at www.johnlabattcentre.com or by phone at 1-866-455-2849.
“This game provides students with a unique opportunity to support their team at the John Labatt Centre in downtown London,” said Brian Ohl, general manager at the John Labatt Centre. “We are proud of our relationship with the university and are looking forward to hosting the second annual Jack Frost Cup.”
Chuck Mathies, acting director of sports and recreation services at Western, said he is excited about continuing the tradition of an annual game at a top-class facility.
“We again look forward to playing an OUA game in a first class facility such as the John Labatt Centre,” Mathies said. “The opportunity to showcase the Mustang men’s hockey team at the John Labatt Centre to the London community is a wonderful tradition.”
“The match up with Laurier should be a great event as both teams will be gearing up for the playoffs only a few weeks away.”
