Yunk Young (Susan) Kim, a missing 20-year-old University of Western Ontario student, has been found safe after an overnight ground search of the university area by local and campus police and fire services.
London Police Service spokeswoman Const. Amy Phillipo says shortly after 11:20 a.m. on Thursday off-duty officers walking in the area of the Bayfield Hall residence, where Kim was living, found the missing first-year Social Science student within 300-metres of the residence.

“She appears to be ok,” says Phillipo, adding the student was taken to a local hospital to be examined.
“It doesn’t appear she is injured, but we would like to check her out because she has been missing for a period of time,” she says, adding it appears the young woman was outdoors throughout the night.
Kim’s family was notified their daughter was found.
“We are very happy and very relieved she has been found,” says Susan Grindrod, Associate Vice-President, Housing & Ancillary Services. “We want to offer any support we can to her as our student and her family.”
The university offered counseling and support to Kim’s family, says Grindrod.
“She is still a student at Western, if we can do anything to help her, whether academically or with counseling, anything we can do we would be more than happy to do that,” she says.
Kim, who is from the Belle River area, was reported missing by her parents on Wednesday, after they arrived at her residence to move her out of residence around noon. She was last seen at 9:30 a.m. by her roommate and her family notified police who immediately began the search.
Numerous police officers, including London Police Service and auxiliary members, Western Campus Community Police Service, and London Fire Services participated in the search. Grindrod thanked everyone involved, including the media and the London community, for their help during this situation.
Phillipo says no foul play is suspected.
