The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have planted their flag in London, announcing several new initiatives in the community – and some that involve The University of Western Ontario.
The Ticats will host a practice at Western’s TD Waterhouse Stadium on Sept. 28, which will be open for all fans to attend. The team will also host a free football clinic for kids who participate in London minor football programs.
The Ticats will also host a special ‘London Day’ at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Oct. 31, when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Western alumnus and former Mustang star receiver Andy Fantuz.
Special ticket packages for Londoners, including limousine service and VIP seating at Ivor Wynne Stadium, are now available. Portions of the proceeds from tickets sold through these special London initiatives will be donated to a London amateur football fund that will allocate funds to both the Western Mustangs and various London minor football programs.
“London is an excellent Canadian football market, as exemplified by the legendary Western Mustangs football team and all of the great London Minor Football Associations,” says Ticats President Scott Mitchell. “The Ticats have always had a strong following in London and we are excited to have a large presence within the London community as we expand on our TigerTown concept.”
