EllisDon, one of Canada’s largest building contractors, will be the construction manager/general contractor for the new Richard Ivey School of Business building at The University of Western Ontario.
The new building will be located on the west side of Western Road in front of Brescia University College and groundbreaking of the $100-million structure will take place by the end of the summer.
“The bid from EllisDon rose above the rest,” says Carol Stephenson, Dean, Richard Ivey School of Business. “EllisDon has its roots in London, Ontario and we’re very pleased to have chosen a local firm with more than five decades in the construction industry.”
During its 55-year history, EllisDon has faced almost every building challenge in the construction industry. This storied history will aid the construction of the new sustainable and collaborative facility.
“We’re extremely excited to be a partner in building a state-of-the-art facility for Ivey,” says Geoff Smith, President and CEO of EllisDon. “As a hometown company, we look forward to participating in such an important and prestigious project. Working with Hariri Pontarini Architects and the Ivey Business School is an honour.”
Ivey is growing to meet the needs of business and to support not only the local economy, but Ontario’s and Canada’s economy. With students currently dispersed across five different locations in London, including one off-campus building, Ivey welcomes a new consolidated facility to accommodate enrolment growth and to bring its faculty, students and business leaders together.
