The Sports Network is reporting that former University of Western Ontario defensive lineman Vaughn Martin has signed a four-year contract with the San Diego Chargers.
Taken in the 4th round (113th overall), the 6’3″, 331 pound Martin was the first Canadian collegiate player to be drafted as an underclassman to the NFL, playing just two seasons at Western.

While complete financial details have not been released, all of the signed 2009 draft picks (104 through 123) deals have been four-year deals worth $2.2 to $2.5 million. However, it was reported Martin’s signing bonus was $486,000.
The Chargers open training camp on July 31 and begin the regular season Sept. 14th at Oakland.
