Dr. Kellie Leitch, Chair of the Ivey Centre for Health Innovation and Leadership, has been appointed to the Order of Ontario.
Leitch, who is also a faculty member in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, is among 29 Ontarians to receive the province’s highest official honour. They were each selected for their outstanding contributions to society both locally and around the world.
Leitch was recognized for launching a paediatric orthopaedic surgery program providing children in Southwestern Ontario treatment closer to home. She also spearheaded the Kids Health Foundation, an organization that teaches children and their parents about safety issues.
A ceremony with the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, David Onley, took place Thursday at Queen’s Park. The group received medals recognizing their contributions to areas ranging from arts to medicine to philanthropy.
