New undergraduate students at Western introduced to campus through the Summer Academic Orientation will do so now in the University Community Centre.
The six-week long Summer Academic Orientation, formerly housed in Elgin Hall Residence hosted by the Student Success Centre (formerly the Career Centre @ Western and the Centre for New Students), allows students to get connected, learn more about Western, explore campus and meet members of the community before they begin school in September.
Each summer more than 4,000 students and 3,800 parents come to London as part of the program with the opportunity to meet with a professor, register for courses and meet other first-year and upper-year students.
The more central location will take advantage of new academic and student services space thanks to significant renovations to the former Campus Recreation space, including 15 new classrooms and the former Student Development Centre space.
“The interview and exam rooms offer an ideal setting for individual academic advising for incoming first year students,” says Leslie Gloor Duncan, University Transitional Programs Coordinator.
