Brescia University College will host “More Than a Book Sale,” an event that features gently used books, local artisans, live music, local food, and refreshments on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the auditorium.
This event marks a unique partnership with The Circle and the London arts community. More than 20 twenty local artisans will be featured. Attendees can enjoy shopping for jewelry, clothing, pottery, stained glass, photography, cards, paintings, candles, incense, and more, while enjoying refreshments and live music by Celtic Harpist Jennifer White.
For the first time, the sale will feature a farmer’s market with goods supplied by O’Shea’s Farms. Proceeds fund programming, events, and the resource library at The Circle Women’s Centre, and other community organizations.
“One of the most wonderful things about this fundraiser is that other non-profit agencies such as Project Tembo, Arthur Ford Nature Park, WENDWOA (West Nile Disadvantaged Women and Orphans Association), and the London Grands are able to raise money for their own organizations and good works. It is a win-win situation,” says Kim Young Milani, Director of The Circle.
The Circle is a program and resource centre that welcomes students and women from the community from all backgrounds and experiences. Young Milani describes the centre as one that engages the spirit.
“The Circle is a vibrant, multi-faceted women’s centre at Brescia that serves women in the London community,” says Milani. “Our focus is on women’s and feminist spirituality, activism, and the environment. From large events to small gatherings, The Circle engages the spirit of women as power for transformation and change in our world.”
