Faculty of Information & Media Studies assistant professor Diane Neal will serve as one of six elected Directors-at-Large for the 2012-2014 term with the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T).
Neal has been professionally involved with ASIS&T since 2001, but identifies this latest honour as a highlight of her career.
“Apart from finishing my PhD and getting a faculty position at Western, winning this election is the most meaningful thing that has happened in my career so far,” she says. “I look forward to fulfilling my duties as Director-at-Large representing the best interests of ASIS&T members worldwide with integrity and professionalism.”
Neal has served in numerous capacities for ASIS&T in past years, including the 2011 Annual Meeting’s Knowledge Organization Track Chair, Webinar Task Force Chair, Information Science Education Committee Co-chair, a Chapter Assembly Advisor, a Bulletin Advisory Board Member, and a New Leaders Award Mentor.
As a Director-at-Large, she will sit on the society’s Board of Directors, participating in administrative functions, committees and decision-making.
