I was in Toronto over the break with my girlfriend walking through the Eaton Centre on our way to dinner. We were going to go to the CN Tower after dinner and before we caught the train back home to London. However, while walking to dinner, we walked past an Indigo book store and I saw a sign out front advertising Ken Dryden’s The Game on it. That night, he would be there signing copies of the book as well as answering questions.
I explained to my girlfriend who he was, and why this was so significant to me, and we decided to go into the store, buy a copy of The Game and sit down. We listened to him talk about his life in hockey and his interest in law and politics as well as got his personal opinion on the current state of the Montreal Canadians.
Long story short, Dryden took the place of our CN Tower visit but we thought it was totally worth it. I got my copy signed and personalized as well as had a chat with him about how I had come across his book in my Sport Literature class and I thought it was a major highlight of my final year at Western.
