It’s your key, your gym pass, your meal ticket and so much more. And now, the Western ONECard, a staple of the Western Experience, is getting a facelift to match the university’s new visual identity.
Today, the Office of the Registrar unveiled a new design for the card, created by the Student Services team, showcasing Western’s new crest logo on a purple background.
Incoming students will be photographed during Summer Academic Orientation and receive their cards in the fall, once they arrive in residence, said Deb Coward, manager of publications and communications with Student Services, Office of Registrar.
For the time being, only new students, staff and faculty will be issued the redesigned Western ONECard, she added. The old design will be phased in slowly – because of sheer volume – for existing Western community members.
“It’s a chance to freshen it up a little bit and in terms of use, it’s the same thing – you can use it at eateries, for building access, libraries, Campus Rec, as part of the bus pass, and it’s still the official student ID at exams,” Coward said.
