First- and fourth-year Western students are being asked to participate in a survey that helps to measure the extent to which they are involved in campus life and their academic program. Theses results help to guide the direction for improvement at Western.
Nearly 7,000 Western undergrads have been chosen to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). More than 1,500 different colleges and universities in the United States and Canada have participated in NSSE since it was first administered in 2000.
This year marks the fifth time Western students have been asked to participate in the survey since 2000, with the 2011 cycle being the most recent. Invitations to participate have been sent to eligible students, however response rates are running behind previous years with only 17 per cent of students completing the survey thus far.
Students are encouraged to check their Western email for login information. The survey is available at: nssesurvey.org . As added incentive, those who complete the survey by the March 21 deadline will be entered into a draw for one of five iPads. For assistance, contact help@nssesurvey.org.
