The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is inviting applications for the position of Chair in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated and ongoing record of success in research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and external grant funding, as well as documented excellence in communication and teaching. The new chair will be expected to support the research, educational and interdisciplinary initiatives of the department, to help maintain the positive forward momentum of the department and to develop new initiatives in research/scholarship.

The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen bridges across both clinical and basic science departments and institutes with a view towards developing translational opportunities. The chair will be expected to develop and execute an energetic, innovative and forward-thinking strategic plan in keeping with the vision of the department as a world-class leader in research and scholarship. Candidates whose research fits within the Areas of Excellence for the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent. The position of chair is for a five-year term, normally renewable once.

A successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of associate professor or professor with tenure as appropriate in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
