With the operating hours set for when students return from the holidays, Campus Recreation staff prepares to open the new Western Student Recreation Centre for use of fitness equipment and drop-in gym activities on Jan. 5.
This $35-million facility will be open 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 5-8. During these days, tours of the new facility will be available, as well as the fitness centre, including weight and cardio equipment, drop-in gym activities and squash will accessible. Spin bike classes will also be held this week.
Construction on the pool in the new facility is not yet complete, but it is anticipated it will be open by early February.
The facility will be open Friday, Jan. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The facility will close until Jan. 12 to allow staff to prepare for a full training session. The Western Student Recreation Centre will open for normal operating hours beginning Jan. 12 at 6 a.m.
Although the recreation centre is open, construction will continue and some areas may not be accessible at all times.
Operating hours as of Jan. 12 are:
Monday to Thursday – 6 a.m. to midnight
Friday – 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday – 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday – 10 a.m. to midnight
Students are reminded to bring their Western 1 Card to access to the new centre.
