Western community mourns student’s passing

The Western community is mourning the death of Andrea Christidis, 18, a first-year Health Sciences student from Scarborough and resident of Medway-Sydenham Hall, who died as a result of injuries caused by a car crash late Wednesday night.

“This is a terrible tragedy and Andrea’s death saddens me deeply,” said Western President Amit Chakma. “I know that I speak for the entire Western community when I say that my heart goes out to her family and friends at this most difficult time.”

Western reminds its campus community that counselling services are always available to assist faculty, students and staff. Please visit the Health and Wellness website for help today.

Further details of a memorial or any formal remembrances will be relayed to the community according to the family’s wishes.

Campus Community Police Services asks that any witness to the crash Wednesday night to contact Special Const. Scott Hessel at shessel2@uwo.ca or 519 661-3300.
