The next book club event in the London Reads series continues tonight (Jan. 14) with University of Western Ontario President Paul Davenport and London Public Library Community Outreach & Program Services co-ordinator Delilah Deane Cummings.
The celebrity readers will be presenting Gratitude by Joseph Kertes. The discussion begins at 7 p.m. in the Stevenson & Hunt Room at the London Central Library.
Gratitude is a tale of Hungary’s Jewish population living in March 1944, and how by the next winter, more than half a million of them had been murdered. The debut novel from this award-winning teacher “explores brilliantly and with deep humanity the complexities of the human psyche in its darkest hour, and offers a rich and unforgettable portrait of a European Empire’s last days.”
Presented by Alumni Western, London Reads was originally launched as Western Reads as part of Western’s 125th anniversary celebrations in 2003.
Reservations can be made by contacting programs@uwo.ca or 519-661-2111, ext. 85739, or visit the London Reads website at www.londonreads.uwo.ca.
