London Community Players is presenting “The Shadow Box,” an award-winning meditation on death and life under palliative care.
Directed by Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry’s Dr. Barry Tepperman, the production is in collaboration with Hospice of London, which will have representatives at each showing for discussion of hospice care realities.
The play explores the dehumanizing effect terminal illness has on sufferers, and the alienating divide clinical procedure can drive between patients and doctors. It portrays the ethical dilemmas encountered when attempting to keep terminally ill patients pain free, tackling weighty issues for medical students and medical professionals alike. Tickets for Western students are $10.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Feb. 27, 28 and March 5, 6 and 7. There will be a
2 p.m. matinee on March 1 and 7.
Showings take place at The Palace Theatre, 710 Dundas St. E. Box office: 519-432-1029.
