Medical Director of Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic Robert Litchfield offers the keynote address for the second annual FHS/Parkwood Research Symposium on Friday, Feb. 6.
The Program in Aging, Rehabilitaion and Geriatric Care and the Faculty of Health Sciences is hosting the symposium on aging, titled Bridging Partnerships in Aging and Rehabilitation Research, at Elborn College.
Litchfield, who was involved in a landmark study which found routinely-performed knee operation provides no better relief for patients with osteoarthritis than physical therapies and medication, will present a talk on Management of the arthritic knee: Alternatives to surgery.
Expert speakers will also cover topics on mobility and aging; building capacity through community-based aging and rehabilitation research; evidence-based practice, from bench to bedside; adding quality to years; activity and mobility across the lifespan; and psycho-social determinants of health and aging.
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m., followed by introductory remarks at 9 a.m. in Room 1330.
