The Bookstore at Western communications manager Carolyn Young kicks off the noon hour Healthy Life Series for faculty and staff on Thursday, March 26 with a talk on ‘How to Start a Book Club.’
The series of presentations is sponsored by Western Wellness and Western’s Employee Assistance Program Committee. Young’s talk will be held in the Social Science Centre Room 3108 from noon to 1 p.m.
An avid book clubber herself, Young will walk through the steps of starting a book club and speak about what’s hot in the literary world and the latest offerings at the Bookstore. Door prizes will be available at this session.
The series will continue on April 29 with Jim Galbraith, Manager of Grounds Maintenance & Waste Management, with a presentation on gardening basics, called ‘Gardening 101.’
Please wear suitable walking shoes as the group will tour various green spots around the campus (weather permitting). The group will meet in Room 142, University College Room 142 at noon.
Participants are invited to bring a lunch and refreshment.

Ever wonder how to make your work healthier? This workshop will share ways of approaching your work that will help you create a healthy work experience. There will be strategies for the organization, work team and for you as an individual. The primary focus will be on emotional, psychological and relationship well-being at work.
June 17 – SSC 2028 – 12-1 p.m. – EAP – “Healthy Play”
This workshop outlines the benefits of play and humour both at work and at home. Issues impacting our playfulness are explored; these include culture, gender, family of origin, life stage and personality.
