A public meeting will be held April 27 before the Environment and Transportation Committee (ETC) at city hall to review the newly amended draft noise bylaw that is scheduled to take effect July 1.
The new draft bylaw incorporates comments received at an ETC meeting earlier this month and, according to the city, includes clearer wording indicating the bylaw is applicable 24/7 and outlines a streamlined temporary noise permit application process for construction work and community events.
“The bylaw addresses the balance of life and culture in an urban city,” says Orest Katolyk, manager of bylaw enforcement, “and the negative impact unreasonable noise can have on citizens’ enjoyment of their property.”
