University of Western Ontario president Paul Davenport has donated books from his private collection to add to the Western Foot Patrol’s annual used book sale Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1.
The book sale will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days in the University Community Centre atrium. Drop by and fill a bag for $10 or buy the books individually for $3.
Samantha Johnstone, manager of Western Foot Patrol, says Davenport’s collection includes “a lot of the classics.” In his last year as university president, Davenport decided to donate nearly 40 boxes of books from Gibbons Lodge. His books on economics were given to the Department of Economics and the remaining titles were donated to the Western Foot Patrol used book sale.
Johnstone describes the used book sale as a “book lovers’ delight.” Several members of the public have also donated books of fiction and non-fiction, which will be available for purchase.
“You get anything from old classic books to those on the best-sellers list,” she says.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their own reusable bag and only cash will be accepted.
