Brescia University College is playing host to the Women Making Change Conference on Friday in the Mother St. James Building at Brescia.
The conference provides undergraduate and graduate women students with a venue to deliver academic papers that explore the many ways women work as leaders for change.
Twelve presenters from universities across Ontario – including Brescia, Western, Queen’s, Toronto and York – will discuss topics related to the theme “women making change.”
Presentation topics include: redefining the challenge of climate change; grassroots environmental activism; the courage of African women refugees; equity in education; violence against women; and American First Lady Michelle Obama as a catalyst for changing female identities.
Past participant Katie McKeon said, “The Women Making Change conference was a great opportunity to share and learn from so many intelligent women. It was an absolute delight to participate in such a powerful day dedicated to women.”
The conference is free and open to the public, with ample free parking. Registration begins at 8:30 am. For more information, including the agenda, visit www.iwil.ca.
The organizing committee is comprised of representatives from The Circle Women’s Centre, iWIL at Brescia and the Faculty of Education.
