Are you in Grades 11 or 12 and want to get a taste of university life? The deadline is quickly approaching for the Western’s Initiative for Scholarly Excellence (WISE) program allowing senior high school students to take one tuition-free course at The University of Western Ontario.
High achieving students are invited to apply before the June 1 deadline to be accepted into the WISE program, which allows high school students to take one course at Western concurrently with secondary school studies.
The program is designed for Ontario students seriously considering attending university. Students must be able to take a course on campus, either day or evening, or by distance studies. Exams will be written at one of six centres.
The course may be taken at Western’s main campus or at one of the Affiliated Colleges. Credit for the course may be applied towards a degree at Western if a passing grade was obtained and the student satisfies Western’s admission requirements.
The enrolment is limited to 100 students and meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
In order to qualify for the program, students must have:
full time student status with a high school diploma in progress completed a minimum of 22 credits completed one or more Grade 12 U or M level credits and have a minimum overall 80 per cent in grades 10, 11 and 12 or have not completed any Grade 12 U or M level credits, but have a minimum overall 85 per cent average in Grades 10 and 11 registered in sufficient courses to fulfill admission requirements of the University met Western’s requirements for English proficiency been nominated by the principal, guidance counsellor or teacher of the secondary school
