STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. – A Western-branded Greyhound bus carrying a semi-pro football team from London crashed on I-69 in Steuben County near Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sunday morning.
According to officials in the reports, the bus carried players and coaches from the London Silverbacks football team and collided with an SUV that crossed over the median.
Silverbacks assistant coach Dennis Angyal has confirmed no Western Mustangs were on board, however there are some Mustang football alumni on the team.
According to the Angola Fire Department, the driver of the SUV is dead. The driver of the bus and 10 members of the Silverbacks team and staff were taken to a hospital in Angola, Indiana. Head coach and team owner Alan Lazar is listed in critical but stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. He has been transferred to a hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana for further assessment and treatment
The Silverback players were listed in fair condition and stable. They were treated and released from Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angloa.
The Silverbacks were returning home, travelling northbound on I-69, after a football game against the Indianapolis Tornadoes on Saturday, sources say.
