UPDATED TUESDAY, AUG. 11, 1:15 p.m.
Due to an ongoing technical problem with Rogers Communications, the inbound and outbound telecommunications connection to The University of Western Ontario has been temporarily lost.
Western phones are unable to receive incoming calls from outside university lines or to make outgoing calls.
The Western internal telecommunications system is working as normal and the internal 911 emergency lines are also fully functional.
Members of the Western community are advised that all emergency blue phones on campus are fully functional but those looking to use one of the Bell pay telephones on campus in the case of an emergency have to dial 9-1-1 as opposed to pressing the emergency button.
Western is also equipped with six phone lines from a secondary source for use in emergency situations and all are working properly.
Rogers is working to address this problem which was first noticed at about 11:30 p.m. Monday. This information will be updated when it becomes available from Rogers.
Please continue to visit www.uwo.ca for status reports.
To contact Western Campus Police from outside the university, for purposes of an emergency, incoming calls can be made to 519-685-8300, ext. 33040.
