London Transit says normal service has been provided so far despite concerns about potential city bus delays beginning today due to a disagreement with unionized drivers.
The additional transit buses required for rush hour service on heavy routes, such as those serving The University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College, are normally provided by drivers working voluntary overtime.
The London Transit Commission is in negotiatons with unionized drivers who had threatened to stop working voluntary overtime beginning today.
London Transit normally has 130 regularly scheduled buses in service, and 22 more are added in the morning and afternoon rush hours. Transit officials had expressed concern that of the 22 additional rush hour buses, as many as 14 could be out of service this morning and eight out of service for the Thursday afternoon rush hour.
Routes most likely to be affected would include #2 – Dundas, #4 – Oxford E., #6 – Richmond and #10 – Wonderland Road.
Riders are encouraged to take an earlier bus than normal to ensure you arrive on time. Updates are provided on the LTC website.
