Research being driven by The University of Western Ontario to
enhance diabetes management across Canada has received $500,000
from two of Canada’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
The 2009 United Way Campaign for London & Middlesex kicks off
on Sept. 10 with the annual 3M Harvest Lunch.
On Wednesday (Sept. 2), the Western Student Recreation Centre
(WSRC) will close at 6 p.m. so all student staff can attend a staff
training event. Also, on Friday (Sept. 4), the WSRC pool will be
closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for aquatic staff training.
Fred Longstaffe is hanging up his hat as Provost and Vice-President
(Academic) at the end of his term to return to teaching and

Western’s Hospitality Service Employees, members of CUPE Local
2692, voted more than 90 per cent in favour of a new two-year
contract at a ratification meeting held September 1. The previous
contract, covering the 275 members of Local 2692, expired June 30.
