With the possibility of a strike at London Transit, students, staff and faculty are being urged to seek other means of transportation beginning Thursday morning.
“We know that many in our campus community rely on London Transit, so we strongly encourage all our students, faculty and staff to plan alternative travel arrangements to and from campus that could be put into effect in the event that a strike or lockout does take place,” says Gitta Kulczycki, Vice-President (Resources & Operations).
The union representing drivers, inspectors, dispatchers, ticket clerks and maintenance staff is in a legal strike position and London Transit is in a legal lock-out position effective 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 22.
Mediation sessions are ongoing and the London Transit will provide as much notice as possible regarding any potential job action that results in a disruption of conventional transit services. Specialized transit services will continue to operate as normal.
