Registration is now open for University of Western Ontario leaders and staff to attend learning sessions on providing accessible customer service.
The Customer Service standard of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) stipulates that all leaders and any staff who interact with students, alumni, retirees, or visitors as part of their role understand how to take a person’s disability into account during service-delivery interactions.
“While this learning is required under the AODA, it provides us an opportunity to build on our strategic commitments to accessibility and to learn about our roles in providing the best experience for persons with disabilities,” says Laura Hamilton, Western’s AODA project specialist.
Leaders and staff are asked to register online for one of the sessions, taking place between November 9 and December 9:
LEADER SESSIONS (https://accessibility.uwo.ca/AODA/reg-leaders.htm)

Student-staff (e.g. working in Residences, Campus Recreation, Hospitality or other areas) will receive learning opportunities through their departments/units and do not need to register for a session at this time.
