Visitors to Western’s campus Saturday for Fall Preview Day are reminded to allow extra travel time into their schedule as the city is currently experiencing a transit strike.
With many people using alternative forms of transportation during the strike, traffic on city streets may be a bit heavier than usual.
More than 10,000 visitors are expected to drop by the university to sample programs, tour buildings and speak with faculty and students.
The busy schedule includes walking tours of campus facilities and prospective students and families are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes.
“Many high school visitors come thinking that they might choose Western and find that a visit solidifies Western as their number one choice,” says Lori Gribbon, Director of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions.
Gribbon says registration numbers are up by more than 25 per cent this year, a positive signal that interest in Western’s ‘best student experience’ continues to grow.
She also notes it is especially good to see local students pay a visit on Fall Preview Day.
“Sometimes if a student lives in London, they may feel they already know what Western is about,” says Gribbon. We hope they take the time to come by, learn about our academic programs and find out about all we have to offer.”
