The Western Mustangs women’s lacrosse team ended the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks’ six-year championship streak on Nov. 1 at the 2009 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championship.
Western won the game 9-5 in at Alumni Field in Hamilton. The event was hosted by McMaster.
Men’s Football
The Western Mustangs defeated the Guelph Gryphons 37-18 on a windy day at TD Waterhouse Stadium on Oct. 31 in the OUA quarter-final.
Western will face Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, Nov. 7 for a 4:30 p.m. OUA semifinal. There, coach Greg Marshall hopes to continue his string of playoff success. In all six of his non-consecutive years as an OUA football head coach, he has never lost the Yates Cup or an OUA playoff game.

During the game, Mustangs running back Nathan Riva had a season high 171 yards and one touchdown on 25 attempts.
Women’s Rugby
As winners of the OUA silver medal on Oct. 31, the Western Mustangs women’s rugby team leave for Vancouver, B.C. on Wednesday to compete in their eighth straight CIS national championship.
On Saturday, Western played in its second straight OUA conference championship, and its ninth in 14 years, falling to an undefeated Guelph Gryphons team 39-7.
Streaming Sports Network Canada is set to webcast the semi-finals on Nov. 7, as well as the bronze-medal match and championship final on Nov. 8.
Western’s opponents in their pool will be defending champions and 2009 Canada West champion Lethbridge and Concordia

Women’s Field Hockey
The Western Mustangs women’s field hockey team captured a bronze medal with a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the York Lions Sunday at the 2009 OUA Field Hockey Championships at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
Cross Country
The Western Mustangs men’s and women’s cross-country teams both placed fifth at the OUA Cross-Country Championships hosted by Brock University on Oct. 31.
