Marie Battiste, an internationally renowned scholar, will speak at the Faculty of Education on how to bring Aboriginal education into the mainstream on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
The lecture is entitled “Bringing Aboriginal Education into the Mainstream: Nourishing a Learning Spirit” and is sponsored by the Faculty of Education and the Thames Valley District School Board. It begins at 4 p.m. in the Faculty of Education auditorium.
Winner of the 2008 National Aboriginal Achievement Award, Battiste is a Mi’kmaq educator from Potl’tek First Nation and professor and director of the Aboriginal Education Research Centre, College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan.
A graduate of Harvard and Stanford, she has published widely on Indigenous Knowledge and heritage and on Aboriginal education.
