Londoners are invited to attend a candlelight vigil for Haiti on Monday, Jan. 25 in Victoria Park.
The Congress of Black Women, the African Community Council, the Black Students’ Association, the African Students Association and the Caribbean Students’ Association have arranged the event, which begins at 6 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m.
Volunteers from UNICEF will be onsite collecting donations. Show support by wearing red and blue, take part in song and observe a moment of silence.
“We encourage Londoners to come out in large numbers and wear red and blue to show solidarity,” says Janis Mark, President of the Congress of Black Woman. “Everyone is aware of the seriousness of this tragedy, and we would like people to know that every donation, no matter how small will make a difference to the people of Haiti.”
“We feel it is time for Londoners to come together and pay respect to the victims who have lost their lives in Haiti,” adds Deeq Abdi, President of the African Community Council.
