A group of concerned presidents, executives and members of University Students’ Council (USC) clubs at Western have joined forces to create the Have a Heart for Haiti campaign, which continues until Feb. 9.
Launched on Tuesday, the campaign challenges the university community to raise $30,000. All proceeds will go to Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders).
On Friday, Jan 29 Have a Heart For Haiti is hosting a fast-a-thon. Get friends and family to sponsor you to participate in the fast. Sign up and sponsor forms can be picked up in the University Community Centre at the donation station.
Those holding an event to raise awareness and funds for Haiti relief and would like to contribute to the campaign, contact heartforhaiti.uwo@gmail.com outlining a brief description of the event or initiative; the time, date and location of the event; contact information; and whether the event is organized by a club, council, etc. A list of events will be posted on the USC website at www.usc.uwo.ca.
Have a Heart for Haiti will be selling bag-tags for a minimum donation of $1. These will be available in the University Community Centre atrium and at InfoSource.
Donation stations will be set up around campus with the help of several faculty councils. Donations will also be accepted at InfoSource and the University Students’ Council front desk on the third floor of the UCC (Room 340).
