Ontario’s new accessibility standards for customer service came into effect for universities and other public sector organizations on Jan. 1.
By law, each person who interacts with students, alumni, visitors, or retirees is required to know and follow the requirements of the new legislation.
This past November and December, Western staff and leaders participated in accessibility learning sessions. An additional session for those who missed out takes place Feb. 18 from 1 to 2:45 p.m. as part of the annual Staff and Leaders Conference.

In February, faculty members and graduate teaching assistants will receive resource material and learning opportunities focused on accessibility in teaching. Sessions will be offered through faculty-based meetings.
